"Mature love says: 'I need you because I love you.'" — Erich Fromm "The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." — Carl Jung "The only way to get our genius to shine is to love someone, but that also opens us to the horrors of the world." — Ernest Becker "Love is an attitude, an orientation of character which determines the relatedness of a person to the world as a whole." — Erich Fromm "Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking." — Carl Jung "Mature love says: 'I need you because I love you.'" — Erich Fromm "The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." — Carl Jung "The only way to get our genius to shine is to love someone, but that also opens us to the horrors of the world." — Ernest Becker "Love is an attitude, an orientation of character which determines the relatedness of a person to the world as a whole." — Erich Fromm "Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking." — Carl Jung

If we can't RETVRN, where are we going?

Modern life has changed love. For better or worse?

The future is yours to decide.

The Love Symposium is a curated event for earnest founders, experts, and intellectuals obsessed with solving our hardest relationship problems and proliferating healthy connection at scale.

There will be a weekend of interactive talks, workshops, hackathons, and late-night conversations. But our goal is to spark collaborations, action, and impact that go far beyond.

This year's topics center around the dating industry, predictive AI and psychometrics for matchmaking, and the science of healthy love.

If you have a session or activity you might like to run at the Symposium, please let us know.

Symposium Topics

Computational Psychometrics

  • Can a high-dimensional model of human personality be reverse-engineered from digital footprints?
  • What are the ethical and philosophical limits of using predictive models for human compatibility?
  • Is it possible to create a valid mathematical representation—a 'vector space'—for abstract human concepts like values, attraction, and love?

Relationship Dynamics & Predictions

  • Beyond self-reported traits, what are the most powerful and non-obvious predictors of long-term relationship success?
  • What is the theoretical upper bound on the accuracy of predicting relationship outcomes?
  • How can the entire lifecycle of a relationship, from initial attraction to potential decay, be modeled statistically?

Dating Platform Design & Engineering

  • How should a platform balance algorithmic optimization for 'matching' with the engineered serendipity required for genuine discovery?
  • What is the optimal design philosophy for a product whose success is measured by its user churn (i.e., finding a partner and leaving)?
  • What are the second-order consequences of applying gamification mechanics to the process of finding a human partner?

The Future of Human Connection

  • As technology becomes inseparable from our social lives, how will the very definition of 'relationship' and 'partner' evolve?
  • What are the potential societal impacts—positive and negative—of widespread, sophisticated AI companionship?
  • Will technology ultimately serve as a bridge to deeper human connection, or will it become a comfortable buffer against the risks of genuine intimacy?

Defining Healthy Love/Community

  • What does the science of attachment and developmental psychology tell us about the constituent parts of healthy love?
  • How can we design social systems and cultural norms that actively promote secure attachment and prosocial behavior?
  • What are the most effective strategies for disseminating these evidence-based models of healthy relationships to a mass audience?
